Patrick started his career as an apprentice with Victorian
Restorations, in Buffalo, NY. In the northeast, the trade
industry is more structured which means you begin as an
apprentice working under a Master Carpenter, and work your
way up the ladder to achieve a Master Carpenter status.
After 2 years as an apprentice, Patrick became the Shop
Foreman of Victorian Restorations. Victorian Restorations
is a custom woodworking mill-shop, which specialized in
restoring older Victorian homes to their original condition.
After working for 6 years with Victorian Restorations,
in 1994 Patrick moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to start
his own business. This company began as a high-end cabinet
installation business and in 1998 this company evolved
into Goembel Incorporated. Throughout the years, Patrick’s
carpentry skills became more extensive, and his designing/drafting
background began more apparent, leading him to acquire
his North Carolina General Contractors License in April
of 1998, and the addition of a Cabinetry Shop… returning
to the original craft that he learned at the start of his
career. This led to the opening of The Design Center in
the late fall of 2001, a full-service Shop & Showroom
in Apex, North Carolina.
Dina has been the Office Manager of Goembel Incorporated
since its start in 1994 and is now the Sales & Showroom
Manager at The Design Center. She devotes the majority
of her time to helping clients with their design choices,
scheduling, marketing and much more.
Originally a Business & French major when graduating
from high school, Dina received her Bachelor of Science degree
in French Education from the New York State College at Buffalo
in 1995. After graduating, she relocated to North Carolina
where she taught 2-years of High School French and 4 years
of Elementary French. She also organized yearly 2-week trips
to Europe where she was able to add a unique point of view
to cabinetry design and styles. Dina speaks fluent French
and also some Italian.
In 1995, Dina became involved in Real Estate Brokerage, and
worked as a part-time Real Estate Broker for several years.
In 2000, she became a full-time Real Estate Broker with RE/MAX
United and has been very successful in her sales. As a Broker
Associate, she is aware of new neighborhoods being developed,
the types of cabinetry and styles that Builders and Designers
use in this area, as well as staying up to date as to current
and local cabinetry trends. She is a member of the Cary Chamber
of Commerce, member of the Apex Chamber of Commerce, and
a member of the Wake County Home Builders Association.
Joel Maness has been in the Triangle kitchen industry for
15 years. He started his career as a solid surface fabricator/installer
and within 3 months was shop foreman. After 5 years Joel
became operations manager of one of the largest solid surface
companies in the Southeast. During this time he was involved
in designing and managing many million-dollar projects both
commercial and residential. In 1999, Joel took his knowledge
of the industry and his exceptional attention to detail and
started a successful high-end cabinetry and kitchen installation
business. Joel joined the Design Center team contributing
both design knowledge and extensive field experience. With
Joel’s experience with every aspect of the cabinet
business and his working relationships with many area builders,
he is able to meet the needs of the customer with much insight
and understanding. As a design consultant Joel will turn
the dreams for your home into reality.
Heather Holcombe relocated to the Raleigh area in July 2002,
after receiving a degree in Interior Design from the University
of Southern Mississippi. While at USM, Heather was an active
member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association student
chapter and president of the American Society of Interior
Design student chapter. After moving to Raleigh, Heather
worked for Eatman’s Carpet & Interiors as a design
consultant before recently joining The Design Center in
May 2003. As part of The Design Center team, Heather performs
estimating and design work for clients and prepares construction
and installation packets for cabinetry production.
As the Showroom Coordinator, Beth is in charge of managing
the showroom and following up on all the details of each
job (meeting with clients, ordering, scheduling, etc).
If you decide to use The Design Center for your cabinetry
needs, Beth will keep you up-to-date and work with you
to make the process as enjoyable and run as smoothly as

Designs, Inc. Since school she’s moved to New Orleans
and back. After returning to the Triangle area she worked
as a design consultant at Batts Distributing Co. Beth joined
The Design Center team in March 2003.
